The Austin-Healey brand was formed in 1952 as a result of a joint venture between Donald Healey Motor Company and the Austin division of the British Motor Corporation (BMC). In 1966, Austin-Healey merged with Jaguar Cars and went on to form British Motor Holdings (BMH). Austin-Healey cars were produced until 1972 during which time the popular Sprite model was introduced to the market. The Sprite features a 948 cc A-Series 43 HP engine and it was designed by Donald Healey. In 1966 an upgrade to the Sprite was unveiled at the London Motor Show. It featured a larger 1275 cc engine and a convertible top.
