The Mitsubishi Eclipse was not, as many assume, named after the occasional astronomical occurrence, instead it was named in reference to an English racehorse from the 18th Century. Eclipse engine choices started with a 92hp 1.8-liter engine and ended with a 227hp 2.0-liter turbo in the second-generation version. It had aq five-speed manual trnsmission or a four-speed automatic. In 1996, Mitsubishi also offered the car as a convertible. At Haynes, we have an extensive range of Mitsubishi repair manuals and online maintenance procedures available for professional mechanics and DIY car enthusiasts. Our Mitsubishi Eclipse repair manual is here to help you through every stage of servicing or fixing your car.
