Fiat 500 2004 - 2012  | 1.2 Air filter change

1.1 litre engines

1 Release the retaining clips, lift off the air cleaner cover and take out the filter element (see illustrations) .
Release the clip each side…
…the clip underneath…
…then remove the cover and element
2 Remove any debris that may have collected inside the air cleaner and wipe the inner surfaces clean
3 Fit a new air filter element in position, ensuring that the edges are securely seated. Refit the air cleaner cover and secure with the retaining clips

1.2 litre engines

4 Refer to paragraphs 1 to 3

Euro 5 emissions level

5 Undo the bolts securing the air cleaner housing to the cylinder head cover, then pull the assembly upwards from the mountings without disconnecting the breather or vacuum hoses (see illustration) .
Undo the bolt each side (arrowed) and lift the air cleaner housing upwards a little
6 Undo the upper and lower retaining bolts and separate the halves of the air cleaner assembly. Take out the filter element (see illustrations)

7 Remove any debris that may have collected inside the air cleaner and wipe the inner surfaces clean
8 Fit a new air filter element in position, ensuring that the edges are securely seated
9 Refitting is a reversal of removal
