L-Series engine

1 The air filter is located in the engine compartment, on the left-hand end of the engine.
2 Release the retaining clips, and disconnect the mass airflow sensor from the air filter top cover (see illustrations) .

3 Release the retaining clips and remove the air filter top (see illustration) .

4 Lift out the filter element, noting which way up it is fitted, then wipe out the casing and the cover (see illustration) .

5 Fit the new filter, making sure it is the correct way up, and seat it in the housing. Locate the cover on the housing and secure it in position with all the retaining clips.
6 Reconnect the mass airflow sensor, and secure the retaining clips.

TD4 engine

7 Undo the 3 bolts and remove the cover from the top of the engine.
8 Slacken the retaining clips, unscrew the mounting bolts and remove the intake air ducting assemby.
9 Remove the engine oil filler cap, and plug the aperture to prevent contamination.
10 Unscrew the five Allen screws and remove the air filter cover and element (see illustration) .

11 Clean out the inside of the air filter, and insert the new element (see illustration) .

12 Refit the filter cover and tighten the Allen screws to 8 Nm.
13 Refit the engine oil filler cap, and the air intake ducting. Tighten the ducting retaining clips.
