Mini Cooper S 2001 - 2006  | 1.6 Air filter change

MINI One/Cooper

1 The air cleaner assembly is located at the front left-hand corner of the engine compartment.
2 Unclip the wiring loom from the plastic clips on the air filter cover, and prise the loom clip from the rib on the cover (see illustration) .

3 Undo the two screws, and lift the filter cover upwards a little (see illustration) .

4 Lift out the filter element (see illustration) .

5 Wipe out the air cleaner housing and the cover.
6 Lay the new filter element in position, then refit the cover and secure with the screws.

Cooper S

7 Open the bonnet, and slide the battery jump starting point up from its bracket (see illustration) .

8 Release the clamp and disconnect the air intake pipe from the filter cover (see illustration) .

9 Undo the two screws, lift up the front edge of the filter cover, and remove it.
10 Lift the air filter element from the housing.
11 Clean the air filter housing, removing all debris.
12 Fit the new filter element into place (see illustration) .
Note the rubber seal is at the top of the filter element
13 The remainder of refitting is a reversal of removal.
