Locate the engine oil dipstick

Withdraw the dipstick and wipe it clean with a paper towel

Look at the end of the dipstick. The oil level should be comfortably between the maximum and minimum points. Reinsert the dipstick fully, and withdraw, checking the oil level again. Should the level be around the minimum mark or not showing, you need to top up

If you need to top up, locate the oil filler cap

To open the oil filler cap, turn it anticlockwise

Carefully add the oil, and mop up any spills with a paper towel. Add about a cupful at a time and re-check the dipstick level. Add more oil if needed. Remember, it can take 30 seconds or so for the oil to work its way through the engine, so allow for this

Always replace the cap and dipstick securely
