Note: If the pollen filter is wet when removed, this is a sign that its housing may be filling up with water, due to blocked drain channels. Since the engine control module shares this housing, any sign of this problem should be investigated without delay, to avoid possible ECM damage. Only models with air conditioning appear to be fitted with a pollen filter. Those without have a restrictor plate fitted instead, to limit the ram effect of incoming air – if wished, this plate can apparently be removed and a pollen filter fitted.
