Volkswagen Polo 2009 - 2014  | 1.2 Air filter change

1.2 litre engines

1 Undo the screws and lift the cover from the air filter housing located on the left-hand rear corner of the engine compartment (see illustrations) . If required, release the retaining clip and disconnect the air intake hose from the upper cover.
Undo the retaining screws...
…remove the upper cover…
2 Note how the element is fitted, then remove it (see illustration) .
…and remove the air filter element
3 Remove any debris and wipe clean the interior of the housing.
4 Fit the new air filter element in position, ensuring that the edges are securely seated.
5 Refit the cover and secure with the screws. If removed, secure the air intake hose to the upper cover with the retaining clip.

1.4 litre engines

6 Undo the screws and lift the front edge of the air filter cover, and then disengage it from the rear edge (see illustrations) . If required, release the retaining clip and disconnect the breather pipe from the left-hand side of the upper cover.
Undo the air filter cover screws …
…and lift the cover from place
7 Note its fitted position, then lift the element from the housing (see illustration) .
…Remove the air filter element
8 Remove any debris and wipe clean the interior of the housing.
9 Fit the new filter element in position.
10 Refit the cover and tighten the screws securely. If removed, fit the breather pipe to the upper cover making sure it is clipped back in position.
