The second-generation Ford Galaxy MPV was introduced in August 2000. A 5-speed manual gearbox is fitted as standard to all petrol models, with an optional 4-speed automatic unit also available. Diesel models feature a 5- or 6-speed manual gearbox depending on the engine output, with an automatic gearbox also available. Fully independent front suspension is fitted, with the components attached to a subframe assembly; the rear suspension is semi-independent, with separate coil springs, dampers and trailing arms. All models feature power steering, ABS brakes and front airbags. Side airbags, traction control and electronic stability programming feature on higher-specification models. Three trim levels are available: LX, Zetec and Ghia, with various special editions also available. For the home mechanic, the Galaxy is quite straightforward to maintain, and most of the items requiring frequent attention are easily accessible. At Haynes, we have an extensive range of Ford repair manuals and online maintenance procedures available for professional mechanics and DIY car enthusiasts. Our Ford Galaxy repair manual is perfect for guiding you through each procedure while servicing or repairing your car.
