The 2001-05 UK-built Honda Civic (sometimes called the ‘Swindon’ Civic) replaced the previous successful Civic range. Its bold long-wheelbase and high-roof styling signals a change in thinking, giving the car MPV-matching interior space and convenience.
The petrol engine range is essentially carried over from the previous Civic, but the engines are upgraded to boost engine power, while reducing fuel consumption and emissions. In the new car, both petrol engines are 16-valve SOHC designs, with the 1.6 litre unit having Honda’s now-famous variable valve timing VTEC system. New to the range is a direct-injection common-rail diesel engine, which is a 1.7 litre 16-valve Isuzu-derived unit, featuring the latest in diesel engine technology.
This Haynes Honda Civic manual will provide all of the information you need on routine maintenance and servicing, and give a logical course of action and diagnosis when random faults occur.
