About

The Pontiac Grand Am name was revived in 1985 for a mid-sized coupe that was identical to its sister cars the Buick Somerset and Oldsmobile Calais. In 1986 a four-door sedan version was also launched. Throughout its life the Grand Am had an engine range comprising a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged motor, a 2.3-liter non-turbo four-cylinder, a 2.4 four-cylinder motor and a 3.0-liter V6. Every engine drove the front wheels of the Grand Am, through either a five-speed manual gearbox or a three-speed automatic transmission. The Pontiac Grand Am was given heavily revised bodywork and a new interior. After another facelift in 1996, the Grand Am was completely redesigned for 1999. Haynes has an extensive range of Pontiac repair manuals and online maintenance procedures to suit professional mechanics and DIY car enthusiasts. Our Pontiac Grand Am repair manual will be able to help you service or repair your car with care.
