NEC Restoration Show 2025: The project cars

This is a follow-up to Martin's video from last month's YouTube highlights, where he was racing to get his Talbot-Matra Rancho ready in time for the Practical Classics Classic Car & Restoration Show. Spoiler: he made it.

“I'm going to share some of my absolute highlights," says Martin. “I'm focusing on not the pristine, shiny, restored and valuable cars, beautiful though many of those are, but instead on the projects and the barn finds.”

Our favourites? The Batmobile is a good place to start, followed by the Mazda Cosmo, a Mini 1275 GT, Volvo 345, a Skoda Rapid 136 with only 10 miles on the clock, the remains of a Jowett Jupiter, and an Audi Quattro and a Lotus Elite, both of which were press cars originally, which means they'd have had lots of TLC in the early stages of their lives.

Ash Rowland

I bought 2 of the fastest Superbikes of the 80s - abandoned!

Everyone's favourite Your Repairs projecteer is back with a couple of beauties from the late eighties: a Honda CBR100F and a Kawasaki ZX-10, which he bought for £1000 apiece.

Ash says: "Neither of them starts, runs or rides. They will both need a lot of work to get them back on the road, but that's what this channel is all about.

In the next few videos I'll be rebuilding the carburettors, replacing the oil, spark plugs and filters, fitting new tyres, servicing the brakes, and hopefully getting these through their MOT tests.”

Indecisive Auto

Volvo V70 2.5T Misfire - Ignition Coil Replacement

You’ll probably know that we’re big fans of OBD fault code readers, because as well as being able to display said codes, many can show live information, which is precisely how Indecisive Auto discovered that his V70 was misfiring.

Cue some PoV footage that shows him replacing an ignition coil, which is fairly straightforward on the V70 2.5T – and we promise we didn't laugh when the tools disappeared into the engine bay. After all, we've all been there, haven't we?

Does the new coil fix the issue? You'll have to watch to the end to find out.
