The Volvo 850 was launched in North America in 1993. It was available as both a four-door sedan or a five-door station wagon. Under the hood, it had either a 2.0-liter five-cylinder engine or a 2.5-litre five-cylinder engine, both of which drove the front wheels though a five-speed manual gearbox or a four-speed automatic transmission. It was a safe car, with dual front airbags, anti-lock brakes and Volvo’s patented Side Impact Protection System (SIPS). It also had plenty of luxury equipment, including air-conditioning and heated seats. A high-performance T5-R model was launched in 1995, and this became the 850 R in 1996. At Haynes, we have an extensive range of Volvo repair manuals and online maintenance procedures available for professional mechanics and DIY car enthusiasts. Our repair manual for the Volvo 850 is here to help you through every stage of servicing or fixing your car.
