The Yamaha name can be traced back to 1889, when Torakusu Yamaha founded the Yamaha Organ Manufacturing Company. Such was the success of the company that in 1897 it became Nippon Gakki Limited and manufactured a wide range of reed organs and pianos. During the Second World War, Nippon Gakki’s manufacturing base was utilized by the Japanese authorities to produce propellers and fuel tanks for their aviation industry. The end of the war brought about a huge public demand for low cost transport and so Nippon Gakki decided to use its technology for the production of motorcycles.
Fast forward to 1998 when Yamaha released the YZF-R6 as part of its Yamaha 600 class sport bike range. As the super sport version of its YZF-R1, the Yamaha YZF-R6 featured a completely new engine design capable of producing over 108 hp while stationary. Our Yamaha YZF-R6 manual will show you how to make basic maintenance and repair procedures to keep your bike running smoothly.
