Cadillac Eldorado (1986 - 1991)

The ninth-generation Cadillac Eldorado went on sale in 1986, and for this incarnation it was significantly smaller and lighter than its predecessor. It shared underpinnings with a number of sister cars, most notably the Buick Riviera, Cadillac Seville and Oldsmobile Toronado. Under the hood sat Cadillac’s own 135hp 4.1-liter V8 engine, which drove the front wheels through a four-speed automatic gearbox. However, it sold very poorly. An extensive facelift two years later helped sales to recover, because not only did the car look bigger and better, but it also had a 4.5-liter V8 engine. In 1992, the 10th-generation car appear, and was significantly larger than its predecessor. It also had a 270hp V8 under the hood.
