OnDemand step-by-step maintenance & repair BETA

Chevrolet Camaro 2010 - 2015  | 3.6 V6 Oil filter change

  • time 10 to 30 minutes
  • difficulty 3
The oil filter is in this area
Lift off the engine cover
Unscrew the oil filter cap (using a large socket, not an open-end wrench)
Remove the filter cap and cartridge assembly
Smear the edge of the filter casing with oil. Replace with a new filter and tighten. You are now ready to refill the engine with fresh oil. Open the oil filler cap and use a funnel to avoid spillage
Pour half the new oil in first, wait a minute for the oil to drain into the pan, now start adding smaller amounts. Keep checking dipstick level fill to the upper mark on the dipstick. Do not overfill
Keep checking the dipstick level, it should be just below the MAX level on the dipstick
MAX-MIN dipstick positions
Always replace the dipstick...
...and oil filler cap. Now start the engine and idle for a minute or so. Switch off and check for any leaks, finally check oil level again on dipstick
