The fifth generation of the Chevrolet Impala appeared in 1971. It was available as a two-dour coupe and convertible, a four-door sedan and a five-door station wagon, and was a sister car to the Chevrolet Bel Air, Chevrolet Biscayne, Chevrolet Caprice, Chevrolet Kingswood and Chevrolet Townsman. It was powered by a range of engines, starting with a 4.1-liter six-cylinder, then a 5.7-liter V8, followed by 6.6-liter and 7.4-liter V8 motors. The convertible was phased out in 1972, while various tweaks throughout the years were required to keep up with safety and emissions regulations. In 1979 the sixth-generation Impala was launched and was much smaller than its predecessor. At Haynes, we have an extensive range of Chevrolet repair manuals and online maintenance procedures available for professional mechanics and DIY car enthusiasts. Our Chevrolet Impala repair manual is here to help you through every stage of servicing or fixing your car.
