About

When it came out in 1961, the MG Midget was, in essence, a rebadged Austin-Healey Sprite built to win back sales from the car it shared so much with. Under the hood lay a 948cc four-cylinder engine that produced a mighty 46hp. Life with the MG Midget was fairly basic, with even a heater listed as an optional extra. There were no external door handles, and the side windows merely slid back and forward. The Mk2 Midget of 1964, gained wind-up windows, external locks and a boost to 59hp. In 1974, the Midget was fitted with large plastic bumpers to meet Federal regulations. It also got more power. This version continued until its demise in 1980. Haynes has MG repair manuals and online maintenance procedures to suit your needs whether you’re a professional mechanic or a DIY car enthusiast. Our MG Midget manual will be the ideal guide through every stage of servicing or repairing your car.
