About
The Porsche 924 appeared in 1975 as the first front-engined, water-cooled Porsche. It was fitted with an Audi-sourced 2.0-liter engine driving through a four-speed gearbox. It handled well, but even after some upgrades performance was sluggish, so for 1979 Porsche added a turbocharger. The car now had 170hp and was genuinely quick. The extremely rare Carrera GT model signalled a competitive intent, then in 1984 the 924’s 2.0-liter engine was replaced by a 2.5-liter four-cylinder, and so the 924S model was born. The Porsche 924 continued until 1988. Haynes has Porsche repair manuals and online maintenance procedures to suit your needs whether you’re a professional mechanic or a DIY car enthusiast. Our Porsche 924 manual will be the ideal guide through every stage of servicing or repairing your car.
