This page is taken directly from our digital online manual 24066 for the 1999-2006 Chevrolet Silverado/GMC Sierra 1500, 2500, and 3500 pickup trucks (including 2007 Silverado Classics and Sierra Classics) and Chevy Avalanche, Tahoe, and Suburban, and GMC Yukon SUVs, 2WD or 4WD with gasoline engines. There is no set interval to replacing headlight bulbs, you should do it immediately upon noticing they have blown out. For safety and to avoid traffic tickets, you should make it a point to check that all your vehicles lights are working once a month, as part of your periodic inspection of tire pressure, and fluids.
Caution: Do not touch the surface of the bulb with your fingers because the oil from your skin could cause it to overheat and fail prematurely. If you accidentally touch the bulb surface, clean it with rubbing alcohol.
