Where applicable remove the cover(s) from the top of the engine.
611 and 612 type engines

Undo the retaining bolts from the top edge of the air filter housing
(see illustration)

Undo the retaining bolts . . .

Disconnect the wiring connector from the airflow sensor
(see illustration)

. . . disconnect the wiring connector . . .

Slacken the retaining clip and remove the air intake pipe from the air cleaner cover
(see illustration)

. . . remove the air intake pipe . . .

Lift off the air cleaner cover, releasing it from the three locating lugs at the lower end of the cover
(see illustration)

. . . lift off the filter cover . . .

Remove the filter element from the air cleaner housing, noting its fitted position
(see illustration)

. . . and remove the air filter element

Brush out all traces of dirt and debris from inside the air cleaner. Take care to prevent debris from falling down the intake orifice.

Lay the new filter element in position in the air cleaner housing as noted on removal.

Refit the air cleaner cover making sure the lower lugs are located correctly
(see illustration 32.5)
, then fit the retaining bolts and tighten them securely.

Refit the air intake pipe to the air cleaner upper cover and tighten the retaining clip.

Reconnect the wiring plug to the airflow sensor.
646 type engines

Release the spring clips and release the air cleaner cover
(see illustrations)

Release the retaining clips . . .
. . . and lift off the filter cover

Remove the filter element from the air cleaner cover, noting its fitted position
(see illustration)

Remove the air filter element

Brush out all traces of dirt and debris from inside the air cleaner.

Lay a new filter element in position in the air cleaner housing.

Check the rubber seal in the channel that runs around the edge of the air cleaner housing and fit the air cleaner cover.

Secure the cover in position with the spring clips.
