The original tyres have tread wear safety bands (B), which will appear when the tread depth reaches approximately 1.6 mm. The band positions are indicated by a triangular mark on the tyre sidewall (A)
Alternatively, tread wear can be monitored with an inexpensive device known as a tread depth indicator gauge
Tyre shoulder wear is caused by under-inflation, incorrect wheel camber (worn suspension parts) or hard cornering
Tyre centre wear is caused by over-inflation
Uneven tyre wear is caused by unbalanced wheels, worn/broken suspension parts or incorrect wheel alignment
