Cars that can trace their lineage back to the Second World War can be counted on the fingers of one… finger – certainly since the demise of the Land Rover Defender. The Jeep CJ was that car, with a heritage that stretched from its demise in 1986 all the way back to the Willys Jeep of 1944. Changes throughout the car’s life were relatively minor until the CJ-5 which was eventually offered with various engines up to a 5.0-liter V8, and various transmission options. The CJ-5 also introduced numerous special-edition versions, such as the famous “Renegade”. The Jeep CJ carried on through various iterations until 1986, when production ceased. At Haynes, we have an extensive range of Jeep repair manuals and online maintenance procedures available for professional mechanics and DIY car enthusiasts. Our Jeep CJ repair manual is here to help you through every stage of servicing or fixing your car.
