The R1200RT was a step up from the 1150 and mixed a sporty approach with its touring-based design. The model gained increased performance in speed following a significant reduction in weight. ABS brakes were partially integrated on earlier models, while a new ABS system was installed from 2007. The 1170cc engine includes eight valves, and the transmission comes in six gears. Regular checks to oil, filters, tires, light switches and spark plugs are recommended. Everything from full-scale servicing and repairs, through to routine maintenance are available in our comprehensive BMW R1200RT 2005 - 2009 repair manual.
