The people who make the manuals at Haynes and Clymer love cars, trucks, motorcycles, and powersports, and even after a week of working in the shop and writing how to guides, they love to talk motors with other gearheads. In September, the American International Motorcycle Expo is taking place at the Greater Columbus Convention Center, in Columbus, Ohio just a short ride from the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame Museum in Pickering, and some of us will be there. We love to hear first hand feedback and always get tons of suggestions about future manuals we should make from people like you who use them in their shops and garages.
AIMExpo, as it is often called, is the biggest powersports industry trade show in the USA, featuring the newest product from manufacturers of street bikes, cruisers, scooters, sport bikes, dirt bikes, ATVs, accessories, gear and more. Not only do industry insiders get a sneak peek at 2020 models and products, but the general public is invited too, on Saturday and Sunday. Not only can you look and sit on the new bikes, but there will be test bikes to ride from Harley-Davidson, Husqvarna, Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki, Royal Enfield, and KTM, as well as the Vanderhall three wheeled sports car.
And though the show floor is restricted to those in the trade on Thursday and Friday, the test rides aren't. So call in sick to work and take a ride!
As an added bonus this year, Harley-Davidson and the AMA are running a special indoor oval track racing on the polished concrete floor of the convention center Saturday night. Sideways Saturdays will pit amateurs and professional racers on prepared flat track bikes, e-bikes, minis, and who knows what else in the "Run What Ya Brung" class. All the information on this first of its kind event can be found right here.
At the Haynes/Clymer booth (number 1847 across from the big Honda display) you'll be able to check out both paper and digital versions of the latest powersports titles, available to flip through and browse. New from Haynes are the Honda Africa Twin, Indian Royal Enfield 500/535 singles, and Yamaha YZF450 ATVs manuals, in book or digital form. Clymer will be previewing some of what will be in our upcoming Harley-Davidson Milwaukee 8 touring bike manual, plus showing off the latest for Honda VT1300 choppers, and Yamaha XT250/TT-R230 dirt bikes. They will also both have on display newly digitized versions of many of their classic books, like the classic Harley-Davidson Panhead bikes, and the popular 1969-78 Honda CB750 SOHC.
We'll even be showing off Haynes new "AllAccess" system, which allows shops instant online access to every powersports manual we have digitized, with more new and old titles being added all the time. If you run a multi-line independent motorcycle or powersports shop, be sure to come by and browse all the titles available to you for a $33 monthly subscription via this new online system, including ATV, marine and snowmobile manuals.
If you are a dealer, shop owner, or other power sports pro, or if you just like motorcycles or ATVs, you ought to stop by the show. Get $12 discounted general admission for Saturday the 28th, or Sunday the 29th when you use the promo code HC19 at AIMExpoUSA.com.
