The Cadillac De Ville is the company’s mainstream model, and this sixth generation went on sale in 1986. It was significantly smaller than the previous model, and was also designed as a front-wheel-drive car. It was powered by Cadillac’s 4.1-liter V8 engine, and was available as both a four-door sedan or a two-dour coupe. Tweaks thereafter comprised enhancements such as anti-lock brakes and a self-dimming rearview mirror. In 1988, the car was extensively overhauled, with a longer wheelbase and larger dimensions throughout. Then, in 1991 a 200hp 4.9-liter V8 engine made an appearance, while tech inside the car was enhanced, including, notably, a keyless entry system. At Haynes, we have an extensive range of Cadillac repair manuals and online maintenance procedures available for professional mechanics and DIY car enthusiasts. Our Cadillac De Ville repair manual is here to help you through every stage of servicing or fixing your car.
