The Citroen 2CV was launched at the Paris motor show in 1948, with its main aim being to get farm workers to stop using horses and carts. It was designed to offer simplicity, strength and low fuel consumption, plus adjustable ground clearance. It was a huge success, and continued in production until 1989. It appealed to many different groups throughout its life, and James Bond even got in on the act in his 1981 outing For Your Eyes Only. Mechanically, the car remained remarkably similar to the way it was at its 1948 launch, with the most significant change being the addition of front disc brakes in 1981. Citroen launched the 2CV-based Dyane in 1961 to see off the rival Renault 4. It had more equipment and slightly different styling but it was mechanically very similar to the 2CV. At Haynes, we have an extensive range of Citroen repair manuals and online maintenance procedures available for professional mechanics and DIY car enthusiasts. Our repair manual for the Citroen 2CV and Citroen Dyane is here to help you through every stage of servicing or fixing your car.
