The third-generation Honda Civic appeared in 1984, and was available as a three-door hatchback, a three-door coupe, a four-door sedan or a five-door station wagon. The engine range comprised a 1.3-liter four-cylinder motor, a 1.5-liter inline four and a 1.6-liter four. There were four-and five-speed manual gearboxes available, as well as three- and four-speed automatic transmissions. For the first time a hot Civic was offered, and the Civic CRX proved immediately popular with enthusiasts. In 1987 the fourth-generation Civic was launched, with much bigger dimensions and fuel-injection on all models. Haynes has an extensive range of Honda repair manuals and online maintenance procedures to suit professional mechanics and DIY car enthusiasts. Our Honda Civic repair manual will be able to help whether you're servicing or repairing your car.
