Fabricating a body panel

We love YouTube and all it offers car fans here at Haynes. In fact we've got our own channel that's chock-full of step-by-step videos that'll help you carry out popular maintenance jobs on various models. Check it out and subscribe here and don't forget to hit the notification bell to be informed when we upload new content.

How to make car repair panels using MDF

We featured Martin's first video about his Talbot-Matra Rancho a while back. Were you around in the late ’70s, when the Rancho was launched? It may be hard to believe now, what with SUVs having taken over, but it was an uber-cool thing back then, despite several flaws.

Martin kicks off this video by saying "Welcome back to the wonderful world of rotten Rancho," which tells you all you need to know about the state of its body. So he makes a repair panel with the help of some cardboard, some MDF and lots of hammers. It's impressive stuff!

Can I Get This 1986 Ford Capri to Run And Drive?

Did you catch Ford’s recent news about the Capri? Initial excitement here at Haynes HQ soon turned to disappointment when the generic SUV was unveiled.

Fortunately, Ben's video is about the original car. He's bought this one, with a 1.6-litre engine, off eBay but it's been sitting for 25 years and is in a bit of a mess, cosmetically. But can it be brought back to life after a bit of fettling?

AC DEAD?! Why $3K to fix?

Autumn’s here and you’re unlikely to be using your air-con to cool the car interior for much longer. However, you should leave it on during the winter months because the system’s seals need to be kept supple and the dehumidified air it blows out will defog windows in a matter of seconds. And of course, you’ll need to turn up that temperature dial.

Naturally, things can go wrong, as the Car Wizard diagnoses in this video of an S60. And it certainly shouldn't cost the $3k that the owner was quoted by a garage. In fact, fix it yourself with your Haynes manual and you’ll only have to pay for the part.
