Buyer’s guide: the Mk1 Nissan Juke story

The Nissan Juke 5-door hatchback, sports utility vehicle was introduced in the UK in September 2010. During the course of production, various trim levels were introduced and in 2014 the range was updated. This involved some small changes to the external and internal appearance of the vehicle and the addition of a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine.

The Mk1 Juke range was available with three sizes of petrol engines and one diesel engine. The Haynes manual covers the 1.2-litre (1197 cc) and 1.6-litre (1598 cc) petrol engines, both being of double overhead camshaft (DOHC) 16-valve design. Both engines feature multi-point fuel injection and are equipped with an extensive range of emissions control systems. A 1.6-litre (1618 cc) turbocharged petrol engine is also available but is not covered in this manual.

The diesel engine is a 1.5-litre unit, being of single overhead camshaft (SOHC) 8-valve design. This is a Renault diesel engine, which is a well-proven design and has been used previously in numerous Renault and Nissan vehicles.

All Jukes covered in the manual have front-wheel-drive with fully independent front suspension, and semi-independent rear suspension with a torsion beam and trailing arms.

A five or six-speed manual transmission is fitted as standard across the range, with a constantly variable automatic transmission (not covered in the manual) optionally available on certain models.

A wide range of standard and optional equipment is available within the Juke range including air conditioning, central locking, electric windows, an electric sunroof, an anti-lock braking system, electronic stability program and supplementary restraint system.
