The XVS650’s engine is based on that used in the 535, bored and stroked to provide the extra capacity. In addition to the standard, or custom as it is called in the US, the slightly more expensive Classic model took the custom look a stage further with valanced mudguards, chrome fork shrouds and different headlight and instruments. The XVS1100 arrived two years after the 650 to complete the family tree. Although its chassis was completely new and mirrored the styling of the smaller model it used the engine from its predecessor, the XV1100 Virago. The XVS1100 was available in standard or classic trim, plus a Silverago version for US owners which had a windshield, saddlebags, studded seat and passenger backrest.
