About

The 800cc Tiger came in two versions, standard and XC. Its 799cc motor was not a transplant from the 675 Street Triple – it had the same bore but a longer stroke, giving it the more easy-going power characteristics needed for a dual-purpose bike. The standard model was a road bike that was capable of dealing happily with dirt roads, while the XC took things a step further. It had a couple of inches more suspension travel (nine as opposed to seven), bigger forks and a 21-inch front wheel as opposed to the stocker’s 19-inch hoop and a longer wheelbase. The XC also had wider bars as befits a more dirt-capable machine, and the wire wheels and BMW GS-like beak front mudguard are giveaways. The profile is striking and reminiscent of the BMW but with enough of its own character. At Haynes, we have an extensive range of Triumph repair manuals and online maintenance procedures available for professional mechanics and DIY car enthusiasts. Our repair manual for the Triumph Tiger is here to help you through every stage of servicing or fixing your motorcycle.
