Yamaha has a long history of building 600cc across-the-frame fours that caught the mood of the times very nicely. The spirit of the XJ range was revisited in 1991 with the launch of the Diversion. This was as basic a motorcycle as you could find at the start of the 21st century, but like the original XJ it was a very long-lived model thanks to low prices and minimal running costs. The Diversion was an extremely popular base for a police bike, which tells you a lot about its costs and reliability. Six years into the Diversion’s model life Yamaha launched a true race replica in the shape of the R6. The first-generation 16v R6 motor was then used in the FZ6 Fazer, a more sporty all-rounder and that is the motor that found its way to the reborn XJ6 in 2009 and its close relative the Diversion, which had a half-fairing and nothing else to differentiate it from the N model. At Haynes, we have an extensive range of Yamaha repair manuals and online maintenance procedures available for professional mechanics and DIY car enthusiasts. Our Yamaha XJ6 and FZ6R repair manual will help you at each stage of servicing or fixing your motorcycle.
